The State Council, China's cabinet, has approved a draft law governing direct sales, the National Business Daily reported.

Citing an unidentified industry source, the newspaper said the law is expected to be officially launched next month.

According to the draft law, the maximum commission for salespeople engaged in direct sales will be 30 pct, up from the 25 pct decided last year at a meeting in Xiamen to discuss the draft law.

The threshold for direct sales licensing approval has also been lowered in the draft law, which now requires a direct seller to first set up 10 direct sales stores, or five such stores plus 10 member stores, before conducting a direct sales business in any province, the newspaper said
