MLM company Amway Corp. and its rival Mary Kay Inc. received direct-selling licenses in China, ending a six-year ban that has limited the company's recruitment of distributors.

The relaxed rules could open further a market that has become MLM group Alticor's biggest, with more than $2 billion in sales. That represents almost a third of the Ada-based company's sales.

The Ministry of Commerce has awarded direct-selling licenses to three foreign-funded MLM companies -- Amway (China), Perfect (China) Co Ltd and Mary Kay (China) -- according to a statement posted on the ministry's website.
